We are on a mission to save boater's lives and make our waters safer for everyone.

We connect recreational boat owners with qualified U.S. Coast Guard Captains that provide on-the-water training. We also provide education about boating safety in the form of guides on our blog.

About boat savvy

At Boat Savvy, we help new and potential boaters build their confidence through on-the-water lessons with a qualified captain.

Our mission is to make the water a safer place by reducing accidents, fatalities and collisions.

Our Mission

Our mission is to reduce the amount of accidents and fatalities on the water.

We are filling a gap in the market for hands on boating education services.

In order to operate a boat, most states only require that you take a state approved boat licensing course, which can be completed online. In our opinion, this only gives a boater the most basic knowledge of operating a boat, if that. When it comes to getting behind the helm, there is a lot of knowledge needed to operate a boat safely.

We hope that more boaters consider taking further training with a qualified captain, such as on-the-water lessons, which cover a variety of topics like docking, anchoring, navigating, weather preparation, basic maintenance, emergency response, and much more.

How It Works

Boat Savvy works by connecting boat owners with Captains.

We charge a fee to Captains to list their services.

You can browse through our directory of Captains in your area until you find one that fits your needs.

When you are ready to book a lesson, just click the “Book a Lesson” button, and either fill out the contact form, or you may see the Captain’s contact information displayed.

You can then connect with your chosen Captain, and all of the details are then worked out through the Captain.

There are no booking fees associated with our service.

Disclaimer: Boatsavvy.co, as an entity, is not licensed to perform Captain services. We are a directory that connects consumers with Captains to provide on-the-water training. While we make every attempt to verify the accuracy of Captain’s listings, it is your responsibility to verify identity, licensing and insurance prior to booking a lesson with a Captain. All booking details such as payments, scheduling, cancellation policy is set forth by Captain’s only, and Boat Savvy is not responsible for any transactions between consumers and listed Captains.
